Best G Tube Pajamas for Toddlers (size 2T and up)

Your little one is growing and you’re so happy, and then you realize that it is very difficult to find adaptive pajamas that will work for a toddler with a G Tube or GJ Tube.  This is especially true if your child gets continuous feeds overnight.

Most manufacturers only make snap or button pajamas up to the size of 24months, because they assume by the age of 2 years that easy access to change diapers is no longer needed.  Unfortunately, this easy access is exactly what makes snap pajamas so helpful for feeding tubes. Even though they are harder to find, there are adaptive pajamas available!

We have tried the easy to find regular zipper pajamas and the 2-piece pajamas, but they didn’t quite work well with a feeding tube.  The regular zipper pajamas did work if you altered them like we mentioned in the article about DIY Toddler Pajamas.  The 2-piece pajamas had a little too much access to the stomach and our little girl couldn’t stop messing with her button and extension.

Now let’s go over some of the available pajama options that can be helpful for toddlers and older kids to wear!

Pajamas with Easy Access Buttons or Snaps

Hands down the easiest pajamas to use that provide access to the stomach area are ones with snaps or buttons.  They are just so simple to put on and feed the line between 2 snaps or buttons.  Since they usually snap from neck all the way to the diaper area, you have multiple options of where is most comfortable to put the extension through the pajamas.

The only downside is that most of these pajamas are just hard to find in sizes bigger than 24M!

Places to find Pajamas with Snaps or Buttons size 2T and up:

Occasionally, I have been able to find Carter’s snap pajamas that go all the way up to 5T in size.  They do tend to be footless for sizes 2T to 5T so we just add a pair of socks in the winter time!  The snap pajamas for older kids are rarely ever found on Amazon, and I can really only find them directly on Carter’s website or in store.  On the website they are typically listed as “snug fit 1 piece pajamas.”

My new favorite place to find snap pajamas is Kickee Pants! They call them Coveralls and if you search for snaps, you will find a good variety available.  Some have an easy access back flap and others have the more traditional snaps up the front! Sign up for their email list and you can get special offers.

I also recently found the cutest Etsy shop called AdaptableSnapables.  She makes not only adaptive onesies but she also makes snap pajamas with no feet.  These are usually referred to as coveralls, jumpers or body suits.  Some of them have snaps all the way up to the neck or just in the diaper area.  The best part is they make them all the way up to a size 6 and have a cute little pocket!

Laree & Co also offer the cutest snap rompers that go all the way up to size 4T.  The snaps are in the crotch area so it is super easy to feed the lines out near the legs and diaper. These rompers are perfect for sleeping or just every day wear! They also offer convertible footie sleepers with a 2-way zipper that goes up to 4T.  The owner of this boutique is also a mom to a medically complex child, so she understands the needs associated with wires and tubes! 10% of all profits go to a foundation that provide care packages.

Boden is a maker of all ages for clothing, but recently I saw that they have button up sleepers for kids aged 3 to 14 (up to 28.5 inch waist).  These super cute pajamas with button from neck to belly are great for older kids with feeding tubes!

Easy Access Pajamas with Zippers

The next best thing to snap up footie pajamas are reversible or double zipper pajamas.  The double zippers allow you to zip down from the top (neck) and to zip up from the feet.  Dual zippers allow you to feed the extension tubing through the middle at the stomach.  You can also use the zippers that zip down to just leave an opening at the ankle to let the extension out.

Places to find Pajamas with zippers size 2T and up:

  • Little Sleepies Zip Rompers and Sleepers are offered in lots of cute patterns and go up to size 3T. These do have the reversible zipper that can do down from the neck.Zippy - Dragon Dreamland Bamboo Viscose Zippy
  • Target has expanded their Cat and Jack adaptive line to now have footless pajamas with an easy access port on both sides for access to a feeding tube.  They have zippers that go up but the little slits on the sides are very helpful!  The size range is really helpful for older toddlers and beyond.  The sizes go from toddler 2T-5T and Kid’s Size 4 (33-39lbs) to Size 16 (109-120lbs).  *I did notice that the larger kid’s sizes are frequently out of stock, so you should sign up for a notification of when it is back in stock.
  • Snugabye now offers a back zippered footie pajama that goes all the way up to size 14 (100lbs).  These pajamas are perfect for preventing children from removing their own clothing. (Available on amazon) You can also feed an extension line out the back of the pajamas.

  • Old Navy also has reversible zipper pajamas that go from size 3-6M all the way up to 6T.  Most are available at everyday prices that are really low, but you can sign up for their emails to get more discounts too! Old Navy Zipper Pajamas up to size 6T
  • Kyte Baby offers what they call a wearable blanket but it’s basically a zip up pajama with a dual zipper. (The zipper can zip from the top down, and another zipper zips up so you can feed a line between the two zippers at the stomach area).  The sizes range from 6 months up to 4T. On their website they are also listed as a Sleep Bag Walker.  The sleeveless design is perfect for summertime! Kyte BABY Sleep Bag Walker Sleep Bag Walker in Blush

Bond’s in Australia also offers zip down pajamas called Wondersuits in a ton of cute styles.  Keep in mind that the Australian sizing system is a little different than the US version.  They offer sizes upto 36 months. You can order through Amazon or have them shipped internationally from their website.  The shipping charge is definitely cheaper on Amazon, but their website has a much bigger selection of designs.

Alternative Adaptive Pajamas for Special Needs without Zippers or Snaps

I know so many people that just rave on and on about zipper pajamas, but I am just not a fan, so I was on the hunt for other options.  Surprisingly there are actually some non-zipper pajamas options available.

These non zipper pajamas are a great adaptive pajamas for toddlers with feeding tubes.

Places to find non-zipper & snap Pajamas size 2T and up:

  • Ready Set Romper has become hugely popular with tubie toddlers.  They are technically rompers, but they would easily work for pajamas.  The middle part that goes over the stomach has a hidden flap to make having access super easy and convenient!  The sizes of their rompers go all the way up to 4T.  Sign up for their mailing list for extra coupons! The “Out Of This World” Romper- (Long Sleeve/ Long Leg)
  • CBO Baby technically doesn’t make pajamas, but they do make bodysuits that start at size 2T and go all the way up to size 14/16.  For those warm summer months, these bodysuits would be perfect as sleepwear.  Just like traditional onesies, they offer the 3 snaps at the crotch, but they also are tag less and breathable cotton!

Best G-Tube Pajamas for Toddlers (2t & up)

Unfortunately, most pajamas that are listed as adaptive are not specific for feeding tubes.  The pajamas that best work with feeding tubes are not really intended for that purpose.

To make it even harder to find them, most companies call them things other than pajamas like coveralls or 1 piece snug fit body suits.

Hopefully this list will help you find the best adaptive pajamas that will work for your child that needs a size 2T or bigger!
